HAVANA TIMES — Disappointed about not being selected for Team Cuba to play in the World Baseball Classic III this coming March, Ariel Pestano, one of the greatest catchers in Cuban baseball history, has decided to retire.

Pestano, 38, said the decision to exclude him took away much of his motivation, reported Café Fuerte.

The catcher, who was a fixture for Cuba in World Baseball Classic’s 1 and 2, said he would still play the remainder of the current Cuban baseball season with his team of Villa Clara.
