Cuban to Again Head Pan American Cycling Confederation

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban Jose Pelaez was reelected head of the Pan American Cycling Confederation during the recently concluded conference of the continental organization at Havana’s Palco Hotel, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

Ireland’s Patrick McQuaid, the president of the International Cycling Union (UCI), told reporters in Havana that he is satisfied with Pelaez’s reelection for another four years.

Pelaez described his reelection as being very prestigious for Cuban sports and at the same time expressed the priority to support Brazil in the organization of the 2016 Olympics.

The Cuban, who has headed the continental organization since 1991, was also appointed as a board member of the UCI for the Americas.
