Cuba Considers Sending Carromero to Spain

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said on Friday that the request to transfer imprisoned Angel Carromero to Spain “will be duly considered” based on legal agreements between the two countries, reported EFE.

“It is in the best interest of both governments to continue a slowly moving and respectful bilateral relationship that is not subject to the sectors that want to torpedo it,” said the Cuban foreign minister.

“Flawless” was how the Spanish government described the trial in Cuba of Carromero, who is a leader of the youth organization of the governing Partido Popular in Madrid, highlighted the foreign minister, who addressed this issue on Thursday in Cadiz with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo.

Carromero was given a four-year sentence for the reckless driving death of two Cuban dissidents.
