Parcel Delivery Service to Cuba Temporarily Halted

HAVANA TIMES — The International Port Corporation, the company that is offering the brand new weekly service of shipping goods directly from Miami to Cuba, suspended shipments this week.

The service, provided by the freighter Ana Cecilia, will restart next Wednesday, after adjustments are made to packaging requirements and documentation to meet the standards of customs officials on the island.

“We had problems with the way the shipments were packaged because they couldn’t go through the in the customs office,” said Leonardo Sanchez, the spokesman for the company, speaking to Reuters on Wednesday.

The new service will allow the transporting of all types of goods between Miami-Havana as long as they are considered as humanitarian aid by the US government.
