Cuban Dissident Ferrer Garcia Freed

HAVANA TIMES — The political opposition figure Jose Daniel Ferrer Garcia, 41, was released by authorities on Thursday after being held for more than 24 hours without his whereabouts being made known, according to a Twitter report by Luis Enrique, the brother of the former political prisoner from the 2003 roundup of 75 dissidents.

According to statements by Elizardo Sanchez on the Cubaencuentro website, Garcia Ferrer was arrested Wednesday morning in Havana, on his way to surf the Internet at the embassy of the Czech Republic.

This is the second arrest of the dissident, 41, this month; previously, he was jailed for 20 days in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
