Cuba Has New Agriculture Minister

HAVANA TIMES, June 12 — The Council of State, the highest body of power in Cuba, agreed to appoint Gustavo Rodríguez as minister of agriculture with the aim that the current minister, Ulises Rosales del Toro, “dedicate himself full time to the strategic task of the sustainable increase of agricultural production,” reported IPS.

  • All he has to do is follow the Denmark model of the late 1800s. The key is private ownership of farms and cooperation among such private, family-owned farms. Let the farming and ranching families prosper from their production and they will make Cuba rich.

    The same thing goes for national enterprise, of course, but that’s another discussion.

    What’s needed in all sectors is direct ownership by those who do the nation’s work.
