Can I pack a vibrator in my checked luggage to Varadero?

Question: My boyfriend and I are traveling to Varadero in a month, and I was wondering if I would be able to pack a vibrator in my checked luggage. I don’t want any problems in the Cuban airport.

Answer: According to the regulations listed in the website of Cuban Customs – www.aduana.co.cu (available in both Spanish and English) – the only electrical equipment that tourists are prohibited from bringing into the country are the following:

  • Freezers having a capacity exceeding 7 feet
  • Air conditioners
  • Cookers and electric ranges, including electrical resistance
  • Ovens and microwaves
  • Showers, fryers, water heater
  • Irons with an electric consumption exceeding 290 watts/hour without spray or 703 watts/hour with spray and steam; bread toasters

If your item is not in any of these categories, it appears you can bring it with you to Cuba. You might, however, want to check out the Cuban Customs site yourself.
