Maisí, Cuba after Hurricane Matthew

HAVANA TIMES – A powerful Category Four hurricane hit the eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo late Tuesday afternoon October 4th, entering near the town Punta Caleta, belonging to the mountainous municipality of Maisi.

Matthew caused serious damage to homes, agriculture, roads, telecommunications and services.

In an attempt to reach each of the settlements and communities in the days following the disaster and learn the status of family and friends, I saw a completely different Maisi than the one I knew since childhood.
