Books on Sexuality Corner Summer Awards in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES — The authors of the five best-selling titles in Cuba this summer — three of them about sexuality — were awarded on Friday on Havana’s Paseo del Prado esplanade during the Festival of Books and Reading, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

Aloyma Ravelo, the author of “Sex, Love and Eroticism,” won first prize, while the Cuban president’s daughter, Mariela Castro (author of “What Happens to Us at Puberty?”), shared the second place with Angel Velazco (writer of “Kukuy: the Goblin in the Blue Puddle”).

Third prize went to Natalia Bolivar and Valentina Porras for their “Orisha Aye,” while Julio Cesar Gonzalez (“For Being Dressed Like a Man”) was awarded a diploma for being the “most participatory writer.”
