HAVANA TIMES — The first tropical storm of the season was dubbed Alberto as it formed on Saturday afternoon off the coast of South Carolina.

Albert is projected to move parallel to the coast up along North Carolina and at this point the storm’s center is not expected to touch land on the Atlantic Coast.

At 6:50 EDT the storm was packing 60 MPH winds and moving southwest at 3 MPH, reported the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

TS Alberto is expected to move north and then northeast starting late Sunday or Monday.

Being born far north, Albert poses no threat to Cuba.
