HAVANA TIMES — A fire destroyed a Statistics Center (Centro de Cálculo) of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) early Saturday, located at the intersection of Boyeros Avenue and La Rosa St., a few blocks from the Plaza of the Revolution.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident began around 3:00 a.m., on the back side of the building where the Interior Ministry occupies the ground floor of the three story building, also shared with apartments on the other floors.

The fire caused the collapse of the roof of the MININT facility, allowing the smoke to spread across the rest of the apartments.

Some residents have left the area, which has been without water, electricity, or gas. The cause of the fire has yet to be made public.
