L.A. Times Calls for Removal of Cuba from Terrorism List

HAVANA TIMES — The Los Angeles Times called on Wednesday for the US government to exclude Cuba from the blacklist of state sponsors of terrorism, reported the Prensa Latina.

“With evidence, changes and advances on the island, by not doing so (removing Cuba from the list), the US is reinforcing doubts about its willingness to play fairly in the region and it is undermining Washington’s credibility in Latin America,” said the editorial titled “Cross Cuba Off the Blacklist.”

The US State Department has said it has no plans to remove the island from the list, but US Senator Patrick J. Leahy is urging President Barack Obama to do so based on his recent visit to Havana.
