Raul Castro Inspects Areas Hit by Hurricane Sandy

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban President Raul Castro on Saturday inspected the ongoing hurricane recovery efforts in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, according to a national television newscast. That area suffered severe damage from Hurricane Sandy this past October.

“We won’t stop until Santiago returns to being Santiago,” said the president. He visited a textile mill, a tract where new housing is being built, and a transportation facility being repaired with equipment donated by the Venezuelan government, in addition to viewing a scale-model of the city.

Castro also participated in the signing of additional agreements with Venezuela for mitigating damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, reported the official Juventud Rebelde newspaper.
