Yoani Sanchez Freed, Rodiles Still Held

Yoani Sanchez

HAVANA TIMES — The world famous anti-Cuban government blogger Yoani Sanchez and over two dozen dissidents were released after short term detentions on Wednesday and Thursday.

However, Antonio Rodiles of the Estado de Sats project continued under arrest on Monday. Writer Angel Santiesteban was just released, reported Sanchez on her blog Generation Y.

Sanchez is back to her blogging and the Inter American Human Rights Commission announced today that it would request preventive measures from the Cuban government that “guarantee the life and physical integrity” of Yoani Sanchez.

The Human Rights Commission, an autonomous body affiliated to the Organization of American States, believes that Sanchez and her family are living in a “state of risk” for her having published articles about the human rights situation in Cuba.

In a article published today by the official Granma newspaper the Cuban government accuses Sanchez and the Inter American Press Society of working for US intelligence.
