Vuelta a Cuba Heads West

HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 19 — Joel Mariño of Cardenas, Matanzas won the tenth segment of the Vuelta a Cuba cycling competition on the 185 kilometer stretch from Santa Clara to Cardenas, Matanzas on Thursday.

The Vuelta has three remaining stages before concluding on Sunday. On Friday the cyclists will race 120 kilometers to San Antonio de los Baños in rural La Habana province.

After yesterdays times, the General Individual Qualification is still led by Arnold Alcolea (Team Cuba) with 34:55.04 hours.  Jose Alarcon (Merida, Venezuela) remains in second 37 seconds back, while Yennier Lopez, a teammate of Alcolea is third, 1.22 minutes back.
