Cuba Photo Contest 2016 1st Cut

HAVANA TIMESAfter much deliberation the 20-member jury has made its selections for the first cut in the 8th Havana Times Cuba Photo Contest.  In all 182 readers took part in the contest submitting a total of 1,503 photographs in the six different categories.

After the first cut, 118 of the participants have at least one picture in the second round. Best of luck to all who are still competing and most of all thanks for sharing your pictures with other HT readers.

There will be a total of four rounds of selection and we hope to post the second round survivors by this coming weekend.

In the categories of Families, Machismo, Children, Cuban Inventions and Landscapes the photos are all individual as in previous years.

The difference this year is in the Stories category, where the participants sent in from 3 to 10 pictures to tell their story and can be identified by the following numbers:  25-34,  53-62, 124-128, 152-159,  202-205,  234-243,  255-261,  315-323,  401-409,  432-441,  469-476,  486-495,  508-517,  535-542,  564-567,  568-573,  704-713,  822-824,  904-913,  935-940,  968-977,  1073-1082,  1344-1350,  1375-1384.

      Yes the jury has their hands full. Most have been doing this every year since the contest began or shortly after.
