HAVANA TIMES — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he will travel to Cuba tonight to attend the International Worker’s Day parade early on Friday in Havana, reported dpa news.

Maduro, who is facing severe economic crisis at home, stated he would return in time on Friday to be at the May Day rally in Caracas.

In an official ceremony today in Caracas, Maduro said he was invited to the march of the “combatant people” in Cuba.

The annual May Day parade in Cuba is used by the government to show what it considers massive worker support for its social and economic policies.

Venezuela is Cuba’s leading political and economic ally.

  • Good point. We will probably find out sooner rather than later.

  • Could be that Maduro needs a rat hole for when Venezuelans eventually chuck him out?

  • I don’t get the whole BFF thing between Cuba and Venezuela. I would be a little pissed if my President was visiting Israel every other week. I understand solidarity but Maduro visits Cuba well beyond what is necessary to show his support for his Cuban handlers. What benefit to Venezuela do these jet-set visits serve?
