Cuba’s Raul Castro in Bolivia for Developing Nations Summit
HAVANA TIMES — Cuban President Raul Castro arrived in Bolivia on Friday to attend a two-day Summit of the G-77+China nations that begins Saturday in the city of Santa Cruz.
Accompanying Castro are his foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez and foreign trade and investment minister, Rodrigo Malmierca.
Since Bolivia assumed the presidency of the organization in January of this year, president Evo Morales has prioritized topics of discussion such as sustainable development, democracy, decolonization, the elimination of hunger and poverty, science and technology, natural resources, and the crisis within the capitalist system.
The G-77, was founded fifty years ago on June, 15, 1964 as a mechanism for consensus building among developing nations. There are currently 133 member states.
That’s a nice suit that Raul is wearing.
The conference has come and gone. Any earth-shaking news? If I had a nickel for every time that blowhard from Bolivia, Eva Morales, railed against the US and capitalism, I could buy a box of lithium batteries made from the lithium extracted from Bolivia where the largest deposits in the world have been identified. Latin American leaders from the left are long on threats and accusations but short on actions.
