Going back to my country after a long time living in Europe was a shock for me. Realizing that almost all of my friends and family members had left the country for a better future. The text of the short is based on my view of the current situation in Cuba and the things I’ve been through in my own life, like the death of my mother, who committed suicide in Havana, Cuba. This changed the way I look at life, and time.

Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, Prince of Asturias Award 2008, will be the main figure of the upcoming Cuba International Book Fair that will have Canada as its guest country. The Havana portion of the fair takes place from February 9-19.

One of the award-winning movies during the recently concluded Havana Film Festival, was the Brazilian “Aquarius”, directed by Kleber Mendoca. The movie received the Best Actress Award (Sonia Braga, remembered in Cuba for her role in “Dona Flor and her two husbands).
